Viking Shield

Shoreham RC show promise for the season ahead.

The Viking shield took place on Saturday 7th May at Herne Bay Rowing Club. Shoreham RC took to the road and travelled to Kent for the pre season meet.

On arrival a pleasant site of flat water and the sun shining sent positive vibes through the Shoreham camp.

The J16 Quad was the first race of the day and the crews first CARA race. The 750m race demonstrated a solid performance by James, Dan, Mark and Marezk stealing the gold medal from the Eastbourne and Herne Bay crews.

The Vetran men followed suit in the new 50+ race also winning comfortably against HerneBay and Gravesend.

The Novice ladies of mixed experience kept Shorehams medal winning ways a light coming back from last place at the turns to pull out the performance of the day and catching the leading Eastbourne crew to within a boat length to take a well deserved second place.

Other solid performances of the day came from the mens senior pair and both Novice mens crews which for their first race did extremely well.

Junior/Senior Men 4+: 3rd

Junior Ladies 4+: 3rd

Junior Men 4+: 4th
